"Forward"

Note: This post was originally posted on November 6th, 2012 right after it was announced on TV that President Obama would be re-elected. Somehow the original was deleted, but thanks to Google's cache system I was able to recover the post. It has been slightly edited from the original to fix some grammatical errors, I also added a picture, but otherwise it is the essentially the same post.

Orlando, FL -- November 6, 2012

Paul Ryan's state, Wisconsin, went for Obama. Michigan and Massachusetts both states where Romney came from, went for Obama. What does that tell you about those two guys? Candidates are supposed to be representative of all Americans, not just evangelical Americans, or rich Americans. What I noticed at the Michelle Obama rally event that I went to yesterday is that there were Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Christians, Jewish, Muslims, soldiers, FedEx workers, business people, etc. That's the real America today.

What's going to happen with the Republican Party now? They can't continue moving forward with their current vision. They do well in rural areas, but do very poorly in metro areas--where the majority of the people live.

The economy, perhaps the biggest issue in this election, could have been better by now if Republicans had worked with Obama and Democrats rather than against them. Instead, Republicans spent the last four years trying to throw everything they can think of at Obama, calling him "a socialist born in Kenya who won't rest until he destroys the country," among other things, of course--in order to make him a one-term President. That was a big fail, and they need a new strategy. One that involves working with the other side, again.

As optimistic as I would like to be about Republicans, realistically, I don't think they're done with attacking Obama. I think in the next four years Republicans are going to try to get Obama impeached instead of working on improving conditions for the many Americans who are hurting right now.

Don't like that proposition? Then have your congressman/woman’s number handy and tell them it's time to put partisanship agendas aside and worry for what's best for the American people. Let me know if you need their number; I'll gladly help you find it.

Let's work together to have politicians be "for the people" again and move this country forward.
